2. Information we process

2.1 Information stored only on your device

When you use the App, the following may be stored locally on your device:

• Document references you open or favorite (such as content URIs and display names provided by Android)
• Reading position (last page viewed)
• Bookmarks you create
• Theme / night-reading preferences

This information is stored in the App’s local database and preferences. It is not sent to Applied Intel’s servers. Uninstalling the App or clearing the App’s storage removes this local data (subject to how your device handles app data).

PDF file contents are read only to display, search, and render pages on your device. We do not upload PDF files or their text content to Applied Intel.

2.2 Information collected through Firebase

The App uses Google Firebase services:

Firebase Analytics

We collect coarse, aggregated usage events to understand how the App is used and to improve it. Examples include:

• A document was opened (with page count and open source such as picker, recent, or share intent)
• A document failed to open (failure type only)
• Search completed (match count only — not the search query)
• A document was shared
• A bookmark or favorite was added or removed

We intentionally do not log:

• File names
• File paths or content URIs
• PDF text or search queries
• Account credentials (the App has no accounts)

Firebase Analytics may also collect standard diagnostic and device information provided by Google’s SDKs (for example, app version, device model, OS version, and approximate region), according to Google’s practices.

Firebase Crashlytics

If the App crashes or encounters certain errors, Crashlytics may collect:

• Stack traces and crash diagnostics
• Device and OS information
• App version
• Limited custom keys we attach to non-fatal errors (for example, a failure category such as “unreadable”)

This helps us find and fix bugs. Crash reports are processed by Google on our behalf.

2.3 Permissions and system access

Depending on how you open files, the App may use Android’s Storage Access Framework or receive a file URI from another app (for example, Downloads or Files). That access is used only to open and display the PDF you chose, and optionally to keep a persistable read grant so recent documents can be reopened.

The App also uses network access so Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics can send the diagnostic and usage data described above.

3. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

• Provide core App features (open, view, search, bookmark, favorite, share)
• Remember your recent documents and preferences on your device
• Measure feature usage and improve the product
• Diagnose crashes and reliability issues

We do not use your PDF contents for advertising, profiling for ads, or training third-party AI models.

4. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information.

We share limited data with:

• Google LLC (Firebase / Google Analytics / Crashlytics) — as a service provider processing analytics and crash data as described above. Google’s handling of this data is also governed by Google’s terms and privacy policies for Firebase and Google Analytics for Firebase.

If you share a PDF using the system share sheet, the receiving app obtains access to that file according to Android and that app’s own privacy practices. That sharing is initiated by you.

We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the App.

5. Data retention

• On-device data remains until you clear App storage, remove individual documents from Recents, or uninstall the App.
• Firebase Analytics data is retained according to your Firebase/Google Analytics retention settings and Google’s policies.
• Crashlytics reports are retained according to Google Firebase Crashlytics retention practices.

6. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

7. Your choices

• Stop analytics/crash collection: Uninstall the App, or clear App storage and stop using it. (Device-level Google settings may also affect advertising/analytics identifiers where applicable.)
• Local library data: Remove items from Recents, clear favorites/bookmarks in the App, or clear the App’s storage in Android settings.
• File access: Revoke document access grants in Android’s permission / “Open by default” / Files settings where available, or stop opening documents with the App.

Because the App has no accounts, there is no in-app account deletion flow; uninstalling removes the App and its local data from the device.

8. International processing

Firebase services may process data on servers in the United States or other countries. By using the App, you understand that diagnostic and analytics data may be processed in locations that may have different data-protection laws than your own.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top will be revised when changes are posted. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
